Corvettes

The Blohm+Voss MEKO® corvette pedigree

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems has supplied corvettes for over 40 years and has delivered 29 of these compact warships, as well as material packages for local construction, to four navies, including the João Coutinho Class (1970), the Blohm+Voss MEKO® 140 Corvette (1985), the Blohm+Voss MEKO® 100 PV (2003) and the latest from stable, the Blohm+Voss Class 130 Corvette for the German Navy (2005, pictured above). All of these ‘mini-frigates’ continue to be the work-ponies of their respective navies, combining a powerful punch on a smaller hull, yet capable of blue water operations. ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems pioneered organic helicopter operating from corvettes, evolving unique solutions such as a telescopic hangar for the Blohm+Voss MEKO® 140, and introducing in the Blohm+Voss Class 130 an all-UAV hangar arrangement.
